Ekunyi's Embers

New Year, New Efforts

I’m typing this from my phone so it’s going to be fairly brief, but I did just want to note that I have taken down my virtual shrine for the time being. I made the decision in part because I would really like to put greater time and effort into the icon I use in that space, but also because the previous drawing had several inaccuracies. I’m admittedly cringing a bit over these; the crowns in particular must have been glaringly obvious to many of you. I guess I would just note that while I am new to egyptology, I do welcome constructive criticism on anything I make or write. It’s the only way to improve after all!

Research on the four gods of my divination continues apace. I keep reminding myself that it is the process, not the end result, that is vital here. I am so accustomed to the academic mindset that your research must be new to be publishable, and gods know that between Devo, Sarduriur, Joan, Kiya, Setken and several others, anything I could possibly come up with to write about Set/Sutekh in the next month will already exist, somewhere, on the Internet. This said, I am learning. I am fixing past mistakes and enjoying the experience of incorporating my passion for research into my spirituality. I may not be contributing anything new to the community, but I’m certainly contributing to my own happiness and knowledge.

May you all find similar joy and a sense of purpose in your pursuits for the new year.

  • If the past mistakes contributed to your genesis, are they really to be considered mistakes as such?

I am all for research and finding where our Netjeru have sprung from, but I think it equally important that we find ways to help with Their manifestation today. I think that we are all learning in this respect.

It was nice that you mentioned me here. Happy New Year.

  • Joan:

Yes, Setken is right, it’s all part of the learning process! Blessings to you in this New Year!
